FEDRE facilitates exchange and dialogue between local democracy actors from Albania and Switzerland

As part of the SDC-funded "LëvizAlbania / Local Democracy in Action" program, representatives of the associations involved in the project conducted a three-day visit to Geneva (1-3 June 2017) with the aim of exchanging experiences on the challenges of local democracy with representatives of the City of Geneva and the civil society.

Congress Governance Committee concludes meeting in Eupen, Belgium

Debates on reports currently being prepared in the context of the Congress' package of measures to prevent corruption at local and regional level were at the centre of a meeting of the Governance Committee held in Eupen, Belgium, on 4 May 2017.

Congress Governance Committee meets in Orleans

The members of the Congress Governance Committee met in Orleans (France) on 7 June 2016. They exchanged views with Claude Haegi, former President of the Congress, on cross-border taxation, in particular the fair distribution of revenues and expenditure between border regions.

FEDRE in Plovdiv

FEDRE attended the Committee and the Xth NALAS General Assembly of NALAS which took place in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) from 16th to 18th May 2015.

NALAS is a network of national associations of local authorities gathering 12 countries of South-East Europe.

FEDRE in Hungary

FEDRE took part on 13 and 14 March 2015 in an academic symposium organized near Budapest by the Karolyi Foundation on the subject “Regions in Europe. Administrative Structures and Territorial Identity Issues”.

FEDRE polled NALAS

NALAS is a network gathering the national associations of local authorities of 12 countries of South-East Europe www.nalas.eu. FEDRE, which is member of NALAS Committee, realised a satisfaction survey among the staff of the NALAS member associations.

A comparison with the results of a similar survey conducted three years ago shows a slight decrease of the overall degree of satisfaction, which nevertheless remains at a good level.

FEDRE in Sarajevo

FEDRE attended the Committee and the IXth General Assembly of NALAS which took place in Sarajevo (Bosnia & Herzegovina) from 9th to 11th April 2014.

NALAS is a network of national associations of local authorities gathering 12 countries of South-East Europe.

During this General assembly, a new President has been elected for one year: Mr Djuro Bukvic (Croatia). Besides, two Ukrainian associations of local authorities have been accepted as associate members of NALAS.

FEDRE attended the VIIIth NALAS General Assembly

FEDRE attended the VIIIth NALAS General Assembly which took place in Skopje (Macedonia) on 19th April 2013.

FEDRE is Associate Member and Member of the Committee of this network of national associations of local authorities gathering 12 countries of South-East Europe.

During this General assembly, the delegates adopted a new Strategic Plan 2013-2017 and approved an increase of the membership fees to strengthen the self-sustainability of the network.

Commission launches innovation partnership for Smart Cities and Communities

One of the greatest challenges facing the EU is how best to design and adapt cities into smart intelligent and sustainable environments. Almost three quarters of Europeans live in cities, consuming 70% of the EU's energy. Congestion costs Europe about 1% of its GDP every year; most of it is located in urban areas. Smart urban technologies can make a major contribution to tackling many urban challenges.

CONCERTO projects demonstrate the potential of solar energy

The Intersolar Europe, traditionally held in Munich in June, is the leading global trade fair for the photovoltaic and solar thermal energy sectors. This year, once again, trends have been evident here that will influence construction and renovation projects in the years to come.
